Privacy Policy

Become (“we”, “us”, “our”) helps you build daily practices around the identities you’re trying to grow into. Become has no backend server — nearly everything happens locally, on your device. This policy explains exactly what information exists, where it lives, and the few places anything ever leaves your device.

We collect information in three ways:

• On-device practice data — the identities you create, the practices you track, your daily completions, streaks, XP, levels, and achievements. This lives only in a local database on your device.
• Profile information — your display name, and either a phone number or an email address, whichever you choose during setup. Stored locally the same way.
• Diagnostic data — if the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service) sends us a technical report: the type and location of the error, your device model, OS version, app version, and an anonymous installation identifier. This never includes your identities, practices, name, phone number, or email.

We use the information above to:

• Run the app’s core features — tracking, streaks, and reminders — entirely on your device.
• Optionally prefill your profile via Google Sign-In, if you choose “email” as your contact method during setup.
• Fix bugs, using crash reports.

We do not sell your information, and we do not run advertising or analytics against it — we don’t have a server to run either from.

Your practice data lives in a local database on your device — we don’t operate servers that store it, so there’s nothing on our end to encrypt, back up, or breach. The two exceptions are Google Sign-In and Firebase Crashlytics (see below), which are secured by Google’s own infrastructure, not ours. Uninstalling the app removes your local data completely.

Because your data lives on your device, you’re always in control of it:

• Export a backup of your data to a file at any time, and import it back later — for example, when switching phones.
• Delete everything by uninstalling the app. There’s no separate in-app delete button today, since uninstalling already removes the local database completely.

There’s no account to close, because there’s no account — your profile is just local data tied to your device.

We rely on two third-party services, both from Google:

• Google Sign-In— if you choose “email” as your contact method during setup, you can sign in with Google instead of typing your details. We receive only your email address and display name, which we store locally like anything else. We never see your Google password, and sign-in is never required — you can choose “phone” instead.
• Firebase Crashlytics— sends us the crash diagnostics described above. Crash reporting is only active in the version of the app you install from the store.

Google’s handling of both is covered by Google’s privacy policy. On Android, Become also checks the Play Store for updates using Google Play’s own in-app update system — a standard interaction with the Play Store app already on your device.

Become isn’t directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone in that age group. Since we don’t operate a server, there’s no account for a child — or anyone — to create in the first place.

If this policy changes — for example, if a new feature changes what data leaves your device — we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and describe the change here.
